Identity

 

I read Murakami Haruki’s book, which title is Killing Commendatore. and it was transleted from Japanese to Hungarian in 2019. In my country many critics were written about this book in different medias and some of journalists liked it and others started to pout because it did not touch the same quality as previous Haruki’s books.

In my opinion this book is different from other Haruki’s masterpieces, because not only protagonist of this book goes on a round in his life but every persona has to go all the way to reach their aims and rest for a short spell.

I think protagonsit has to draw off his life to find his way and looks for himself and his vocation again. He starts to seek his meaning of the work and he gives up his private life and separates his wife but he realized that he needs his partner because she does not substitute for anyone else.

His acquaintance, whose name is Mensiki chooses different approaches to handle his problems and difficulties. He has lots of money so he tries to have emerged balks solved by anyone else.

The protagonist strives to accept Mensiki’s behaviours but he has pretty much maintenances against the man. I think his revulsion is rooted in their different thinking of ways about life and problems resolution.    

As I can see, Haruki starts to unfold interesting questions. He showes two ways that we can live our life. One of them is when people take on their identities and try to live without compromise and cope with difficulties of life. And they are not affraid of step on unknown way and they are extremely brave to discover their inner borders, ideas and desires.

Other one is when we do not want to make some effort to struggle with tough situations and try to avoid many unpleasant things so we choose roundabout to reach our purposes. And we can not reveal our real emotions and ideas to ourselves, because it would be badly painful. We would rahter embrace easier way.

At the end of this book every act and every person arrives at their starting point and more or less their can reach their desires and aims. One of them will be very happy about their new life or restarted life and circumstances make the others accept a new situation and they try to get on well with it.
